Alex Albon to miss the Italian Grand Prix 2022


Italian Grand Prix is taking place on Sunday, 11th September. But the Williams racer Alex Albon just got ruled out of Formula 1 race. He will be missing the weekend’s race.

Unfortunately, he got diagnosed with appendicitis. The former Formula 2 and Formula E champion Nyck De Vries will be standing in for him.

Williams appeared to be in the running for points at Monza due to their straight-line pace as Albon placed a promising 10th in FP2 and 11th in FP1. He however, stated that the Thai driver would sit out the rest of the weekend prior to the final practice at Monza.

In a statement, the team said: “Williams Racing can confirm that, after feeling unwell this morning and seeking medical advice from the FIA and local hospital, Alex Albon is now undergoing treatment for appendicitis.”

Nyck De Vries

De Vries participated in practice one for Williams at the Spanish Grand Prix. He returned to the Italian track this past weekend to carry out similar tasks for Aston Martin.

De Vries finished the opening session in P19 for the team. As a result, the 27-year-old will make his Grand Prix debut this weekend, racing alongside Nicholas Latifi.
