In a potential shake-up for the Denver Broncos, pending free agent center Lloyd Cushenberry is anticipated to join the Tennessee Titans, as reported by Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports on Monday.

While the deal awaits official confirmation until the NFL’s new league year kicks off on Wednesday, this move could significantly impact the Broncos’ lineup.

Cushenberry, a third-round pick from LSU in 2020, emerged as a stalwart presence, starting all 16 games in both 2020 and 2021. Despite a setback with a groin injury in 2022, he made a triumphant return in 2023, showcasing stellar performance by allowing just one sack, according to Pro Football Focus.

Having earned approximately $4.5 million on his rookie contract with the Broncos from 2020-2023, Cushenberry is now poised for a considerable pay raise with the Titans.

The departure leaves the Broncos with Luke Wattenberg, a fifth-round pick in 2022, and Alex Forsyth, a seventh-round pick in 2023, as potential replacements at the center position.

Wattenberg, with 23 games as a backup swing guard/center over the last two seasons, and Forsyth, viewed by GM George Paton as a future NFL starter, are set to compete for the starting center role in the upcoming training camp.

As the Broncos recalibrate their lineup, Cushenberry’s move to the Titans adds a layer of intrigue to the approaching NFL season.
