He remarked, “You know, I think we all deserve being number one pound-for-pound. I think it’s disrespect to put somebody at the top because, you know, you have Inoue, you have Crawford, you have Usyk, you have a lot of great fighters out there. And I think we all deserve being the number one.” This statement marks a shift from his previous assertion that only Tyson Fury could rival him, claiming that he had proved himself as the best fighter globally.

Canelo Alvarez’s Dominant Boxer Record and Multiple Titles

Canelo boasts a professional record of 59-2-2 and currently holds the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO), and International Boxing Federation (IBF) super middleweight world championships. As the showdown with Jermell Charlo approaches, Canelo appears confident and well-prepared, acknowledging Charlo’s diverse skill set but expressing readiness to face any style.

He says, “His biggest weapon is everything, he can punch, he can take a punch, he can move too and he’s tall; I think he has it all, but I’m customary to fighting in all styles and I’m ready”. In a surprising revelation during the promotional events, Canelo talks upon the topic of retirement. This has not been the subject of talks before. He mentioned that he believes he has approximately four to five more years in the sport.

Having been a professional boxer since the age of 15, he plans to retire around the age of 36 or 37, wanting to enjoy life with his family after accomplishing numerous achievements in the sport.
