Carlos Sainz says Ferrari contract extension had gone extremely smooth ahead of Imola weekend

Carlos Sainz has signed a multi-year contract with Ferrari until 2024. It was confirmed on Thursday ahead of the first Sprint weekend of 2022 at Imola Formula 1.

When the Spanish driver was asked if there were any difficulties in getting the contract signed. He said that there were none!

Carlos Sainz stated contract talks had gone extremely well. With teammate Charles Leclerc adding that the move to recruit Sainz was entirely beneficial for the Scuderia.

“It’s been super-easygoing, to be honest; after such a wonderful first year, just getting it agreed was quite easy for all parties. I believe having the opportunity to announce at a place like Imola, in front of the tifosi on a weekend like this. I think it was ideal.” We made an excellent strategy for the announcement to be here as well.” – Carlos Sainz

After spending 2 years at McLaren, he said that stability was “critical”. Sainz will be with Scuderia for at least 4 years under this contract. Which will be his longest stay with a single club in Formula 1.

“Well I think stability is key; I think it’s no secret recently that not only me. But I think you’ve heard also other drivers saying it’s important on the driver’s side to have their full focus on the performance. On the racing, and not having to focus too much on what the future holds.

On a similar contract with Ferrari, teammate Leclerc was pleased that Sainz had been locked down so early in the season as they tried to win their first championship since 2008.

I’m overjoyed,” Leclerc said. “Obviously, Carlos is a fantastic guy in addition to being a great driver, and we have a great relationship”. He added We also work effectively together. But I believe the most significant aspect is that we share the same feedback
