England Cricket Team arrives in Pakistan after 17 years for the Twenty20 tournament


England Cricket Team landed in Karachi, Pakistan after whole 17 years. The last time the team was here back in 2005. They were supposed to come for an international match last year but unfortunately, the team cancelled due to security concerns.

Over the past few years, international cricket returned to Pakistan. Infact earlier this year, Australia came to the country as well for the cricket T20 tournament.

England Cricket Team welcomed in Karachi

The entire England Cricket Team touched down in the city and were welcomed with hospitality. During the match days, the England team hotel and Karachi’s National Stadium will be closed due to security reasons.

Although, the last England toured Pakistan, there were some security issues hovering around the country. It eventually led towards countries being afraid of visiting Pakistan for international matches. Just as last year New Zealand rejected to claiming ‘security concerns’.

Twenty20 Cricket

England and Wales Cricket board has called the team ‘desperate’ to go play in Pakistan despite the fact that the country is going through humanitarian disaster.

“I think hopefully us going out there and playing will be a positive for what’s been a pretty harrowing time for the people of that country,” said managing director of men’s cricket Rob Key.

The England cricket squad will play a twenty20 series against Pakistan in Karachi and Lahore. The matches will take place from September 20th to October 2nd. Both the teams will have a good warm up session before the T20 World Cup in Australia.
