This decision comes on the heels of Nadal’s injury challenges during the previous Australian Open, which led to him missing virtually the entirety of the 2023 season. In response, Nadal underwent hip surgery on June 2 and commenced training on the hard courts of his academy in Manacor just a week ago.

In May, the Mallorcan tennis legend expressed his intent to arrive in prime condition for the 2024 season, a year that is widely expected to mark the conclusion of his professional career.
