As United are set to endure their fifth-straight season without a trophy following their elimination from the Champions League by Atletico Madrid last month. Wayne Rooney, Manchester United’s all-time record scorer, has questioned Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba’s futures at Old Trafford.
They also have a long way to go to qualify for next season’s Champions League. They presently sit in 7th position in the Premier League.
Club needs to go with “Younger, Hungry Guys” – Wayne Rooney
Since joining Real Madrid from Juventus, Ronaldo has scored 18 goals in all competitions. However, Rooney believes the summer signing did not pan out.
There’s still a lot of debate regarding the current situation of United. “At the moment, you’d have to say no” Rooney. “Early in the season, he scored key goals in the Champions League. Against Tottenham, he scored a hat-trick”. But, if you’re looking to the future of the club, I believe that the best way to lift Manchester United in the next two or three years is to go with younger, hungry players“. Cristiano is clearly getting older. He isn’t the player he was in his twenties, but that is to be expected in football. He can score goals, but the rest of the time United needs more, especially young, hungry guys.”
Paul Pogba’s Strategies are failing for United – Wayne Rooney
With Pogba’s contract set to expire this summer, Rooney believes the France midfielder should look for a new challenge. Rooney added. “And, if Paul is being honest with himself, I believe he hasn’t had the impact he would have desired since returning to Manchester United.” I see him play for France and he’s a completely different player. “It just hasn’t worked out for him at Manchester United, and I believe they need to let a few guys go.”
Wayne Rooney suggested who should take place of Ralf Rangnick
Rooney, who confessed last week that he aspires to one day manage Manchester United, also offered his opinion on who should succeed temporary manager Ralf Rangnick in the coming season.
Rooney remarked, “I think Pochettino has done it in the Premier League, he knows the Premier League.” “He brought a lot of young players through at Tottenham, and he did the same at Southampton.” So, if I had to choose between Pochettino or Ten Hag, I’d go with Pochettino’’.
