Frank Gore, the iconic former 49ers running back turned personnel advisor, is no stranger to scouting talent for San Francisco. However, there’s one prospect close to home that has captured his attention: his son, Frank Gore Jr.

In an exclusive interview with Bay Area News Group’s Cam Inman, Gore Sr. provided an insightful scouting report on his son’s capabilities. According to the elder Gore, Frank Jr. is a formidable football player with exceptional toughness, keen vision, and impressive footwork. Praising his son’s commitment to doing whatever it takes for his drafting team, Gore Sr. emphasized Frank Jr.’s top-end speed and underrated strength.

With a proud father’s bias, Gore Sr. lauded Frank Jr.’s achievements at Southern Mississippi, where he amassed over 4,000 rushing yards, 26 rushing touchdowns, and showcased versatility with 75 receptions, including 26 receiving touchdowns.

Highlighting Frank Jr.’s standout performance at the East-West Shrine Bowl, where he secured the game’s MVP honors, Gore Sr. addressed skeptics questioning the level of competition. The Shrine Bowl experience, featuring Power Five talent, silenced doubts, reinforcing Frank Jr.’s status as a formidable football player.

Despite being vertically challenged compared to NFL standards, standing at 5-foot-7 and 199 pounds, Frank Jr. mirrors his father’s determination. Frank Sr., who was 5-9 and 212 pounds during his NFL career, sees potential in his son impacting the NFL stage.

With the 2024 NFL Draft looming, where Frank Jr. is projected as a likely late-round pick, the 49ers, armed with 11 picks, might consider the younger Gore. Regardless of the outcome, Frank Sr. remains a steadfast supporter, expressing pride in his son’s handling of the draft process and his consistent resilience.

As the draft approaches, all eyes are on the younger Gore, ready to carve his own path in the NFL, with the unwavering support of a proud and legendary father.
