Las Vegas Raiders quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, is set to serve a two-game suspension for violating the NFL’s Performance Enhancing Substances policy, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The suspension stems from Garoppolo’s use of a prescribed medication without a valid Therapeutic Use Exemption.

Garoppolo has chosen not to appeal the suspension, making him ineligible for the first two games of the upcoming 2024-25 NFL season. The quarterback’s future with the Raiders remains uncertain, with expectations that the team will release the 32-year-old before an $11.25 million roster bonus becomes due next month.

As per NFL regulations, Garoppolo can participate in offseason activities and training camp if he signs with a new team. However, once the regular season commences, he will be barred from any involvement for the duration of his two-week suspension.

Having inked a three-year, $72.75 million deal with the Raiders in March last year, Garoppolo’s tenure with the team appears to be at an end. After starting his NFL journey with the New England Patriots, he spent seven seasons with the San Francisco 49ers before joining Las Vegas and reuniting with head coach Josh McDaniels.

Garoppolo played seven games in the 2023 season but found himself benched in late October, coinciding with McDaniels and general manager David Ziegler’s firing.

As the Raiders undergo a change in leadership with head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco taking charge, the quarterback position is undergoing evaluation, with the possibility of Aidan O’Connell starting the season or the team selecting a new quarterback in the upcoming draft.
